Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how inMorse (“we”, “us”, or “the site”) handles information when you visit inmorse.com. We have tried to keep this document short and plain-language. If anything is unclear, please contact us and we will be happy to explain further.

Who We Are

inMorse is an independent, free Morse code translator and learning platform. We are a small project, not a large advertising network, and we operate the site at https://inmorse.com. The site is funded through contextual display advertising and the goodwill of its maintainers. We do not sell any product or service that requires you to create an account, and the core translator tool works entirely in your browser without sending your input to our servers.

Comments & Media

The contact form on the contact page sends your submission securely over HTTPS to our server, which forwards it as an email to our inbox at inmorsecom@gmail.com using Resend, our transactional email provider. The information you enter into the form (your name if supplied, email address, subject, and the contents of your message) is transmitted to Resend for the sole purpose of delivering that email, and is not stored on our servers beyond the time needed to send it. We never publish email addresses or any other personally identifying information from private messages.

To prevent abuse, the contact endpoint applies rate limiting (a maximum of 5 submissions per 10 minutes per IP address) and a honeypot field that silently drops submissions from automated bots. Your IP address is used only for rate limiting and is not retained after the rate-limit window expires.

If you upload an image to the site (for example, when using the image-based Morse decoder tool), that image is processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript and is never transmitted to our servers. The image data lives only in your tab and is discarded the moment you close or reload the page.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. inMorse uses a minimal set of cookies and similar storage mechanisms:

• Preference storage. Your theme (light/dark), translator settings (WPM, frequency, volume, waveform), and recent translations are saved to your browser’s localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is removed when you clear your browser storage.
• Advertising cookies. Third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense, may set cookies to serve and measure ads. See the Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising section.

We do not currently run our own analytics on this site. If that changes, this section will be updated to describe what we collect and how to opt out.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies in their settings. Doing so will not break the translator, but it may reset your saved preferences and reduce the relevance of any ads you see.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this blog may include embedded content from other websites, such as YouTube videos, CodePen demos, or social media posts. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the source website directly: it may set cookies, run scripts, and track your interaction with that content. We have no control over what third-party embeds do, and we recommend reviewing the privacy policy of each embedded source.

Data Retention & Your Rights

We retain contact-form email correspondence for as long as is necessary to respond to you and to keep a reasonable record of past correspondence, typically no longer than 24 months. Your translator input, practice statistics, and uploaded images are not retained by us at all: they live only in your browser and are discarded when you close the tab.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Ask that we delete your personal data (“the right to be forgotten”).
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
• Withdraw consent to processing that relies on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us with the email address you used and a short description of your request. We will respond within 30 days.

Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising

We may display ads served by Google AdSense and other third-party advertising networks. These partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

• Google’s use of advertising cookies is governed by its own privacy policy and terms, available at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site. Each has its own privacy and cookie policy; we are not responsible for their practices.

We do not have access to, nor control over, the cookies that Google or other advertising partners place on your device. The information these partners collect is subject to their own privacy policies, not this one.

Analytics

We do not currently run our own analytics on this site. The only third-party services that may collect usage data are the advertising partners described in the section above. If we add first-party analytics in the future, this section will be updated to describe what we collect, how long we keep it, and how to opt out.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of the page and, for material changes, post a notice on the homepage for a reasonable period. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
